What age should you sell your baby goats?

This is a question that I asked when we were really new to raising goats, but it isn’t just about age; It’s a lot about how much they weigh. Baby goats, if not a healthy weight for their size, can be very susceptible to things like coccidiosis, which can be detrimental to their health if not treated quickly. Our general rule (which is what we learned from Deborah Nimenn) is to wait until your kids are 2 months old or 8 weeks, and at least 20 pounds. This is what we do for our dam-raised kids. If you are bottle feeding, you probably won’t have to wait as long since the kids would be eating from the bottle.
